Why the evenings matter

The valley cools down after dark. Let it in.

On many summer days in the Diablo Valley, the evening air drops well below the afternoon high. A whole-house fan pulls that cooler air through open windows and pushes the day's heat out through the attic — for a fraction of the power an air conditioner uses.

It doesn't replace AC on the hottest afternoons. It shortens the hours AC has to run.

Questions

Fans, AC and the rest.

Is a whole-house fan the same as an attic fan?

No. An attic fan only vents the attic. A whole-house fan pulls air from the living space through open windows and pushes it out through the attic, cooling the house itself when the outside air is cooler.

Can a whole-house fan replace my air conditioner?

Usually not on the hottest afternoons. It works when the outside air is cooler than inside, typically evenings and nights, and shortens the hours the air conditioner has to run.

Can I run it on smoke days?

No. A whole-house fan pulls outdoor air straight into the house. On smoke days keep it off, keep windows shut and let the filtered system do the work.

Do you work on businesses as well as homes?

Yes. Offices, shops, restaurants and medical suites: rooftop and split systems, schedules and maintenance plans.

Does ShadowPeak do coatings or painting?

No. Coats is part of the business name, not the trade. ShadowPeak does heating, ventilation and air conditioning only.
